North River Youth Coalition’s Mikeal Steele Memorial Scholarship
Mikeal was only 17 years old when he was killed by a drunk driver in October 2020.
It is his family’s wish that Mikeal be remembered for the wonderful young man, amazing friend, and caring mentor he was and it is our intention to honor him by awarding graduating NRYC members who also have those qualities with a scholarship.
With your help, we’re one step closer to strengthening community protective factors against youth substance abuse, recognizing the importance of making healthy choices and honoring Mikeal’s life.

Join us for an evening of celebration and support as we gather to honor the memory of Mikeal Steele and raise funds for the North River Youth Coalition’s Mikeal Steele Memorial Scholarship.

Last year, thanks to your generous support, we raised over $2,000 and awarded scholarships to deserving seniors. This year, we aim to surpass that achievement with approximately 125 participants expected to attend. Your presence and contributions to our silent auction, featuring valuable products and services from local businesses, will help us make a significant impact in our community.
Together, we can strengthen protective factors against youth substance abuse and promote healthy decision-making. By honoring Mikeal's legacy, we affirm the importance of fostering positive choices among our youth.
Join us for an evening of music, food, and fun, highlighted by our mocktail contest. The winning team's recipes will earn a place on the menus of local restaurants, further spreading the message of responsible choices and community support.
Your participation brings us one step closer to creating a brighter future for our youth and honoring Mikeal's life in a meaningful way.
